Fairfax, Virginia – SGIA has introduced the CPSIA Compliance Strategy, an exclusive member-only benefit designed to assist in the creation of a framework for compliance with the requirements of standards set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for children’s products, toys and child care articles.
The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 requires that all children’s products:
- Comply with the lead and/or phthalate content limits, as applicable
- Be tested for compliance by a CPSC-accepted laboratory
- Have a written Children’s Product Certificate that provides evidence of the product’s compliance (issued by the manufacturer or importer)
- Have permanent tracking information affixed to the product
